11:08pm
passers by who were passing by the short cul-de-sac start to see the smoke and pulled up, started blowing the horns making sure that no one is still inside the house and that people know the fire was actually -- this house is actually indeed, on fire. it went to two alarms, as we said. firefighters began that tack inside. they were able to get out safely. the fire -- the home, at this point, looks like a total loss at this point. that has not completely been determined. investigators say they will get back into this house probably tomorrow. once they make sure it's structurally safe and they have the added benefit of light of day. at this point, it's still under investigation. unfortunately, no one hurt at this house fire in lowden. >> tonight, several students from poolsville high school were on the bus when the crash happened.

11:18pm
opportunity to be a kid. live in leesburg tonight, erica gonzalez, news 4. >> thanks, erica. we go to weather right now. there's a hurricane out there that could have a significant impact on our weather. >> yeah, i think it's going to have a significant impact from our area maybe up to new england. right now, you can see that this is the enhanced infrared satellite picture. you can see it's a very well defined storm. this could be strong category two, maybe category three with the pressure. but right now, it's coming in just out from the hurricane center. show you that in just a second. take a look at some of the video. out of jamaica a little earlier, sandy was slamming that island. numerous people, about 90% of jamaica without power as that storm has made its way on flu here. take a look at the latest data. the winds are up to 90 miles an hour.
11:19pm
i think it will keep hurricane strength as it does cross cuba. that's the latest forecast keeping it as as category 1 storm. just off the miami coast. miami, maybe 50-60 mile an hour winds. not a direct hit for them, but still some impact for the miami area and portions of south florida. it moves up and then back out to sea. well, the latest models bringing it up and back in, believe it or not, as it interacts with a big area of low pressure on land. so we're going to watch this very cloesely and it's where tht interaction takes place that could bring that storm up towards our way or up towards boston. here's our latest thinking here with this storm. saturday, no problems here. i think saturday is looking like a pretty nice day with increasing clouds. biggest threat. you have a low threat from this storm and towards the carolinas and a pretty high threat along the north carolina close, especially the outerbanks.
11:20pm
as we move on sunday, a high threat along the delmarva. if the storm is able to come in towards our area, a little bit quicker, and i think this could happen to us. we have a very high threat of wind and rain. even around the i-95 kwcorridor this area could be read. we will have low impact storms here with wind and rain. so, once again, we're going to be watching this very closely. as far as our weather is concerned today, we saw a great day. this is the biggest issue, i think, most likely along the mid at lantic in the northeast, power outages across the entire area. today, for us, we saw a high of 84 degrees. that's a record, tieing a record set back in 2001 around the region, we are extremely mild for this time of year. no worries tomorrow morning.
11:21pm
no worries as we head into the next couple of days. temperatures about 50-60 degrees. 71 on friday. 68 on saturdays. here comes sandy sunday into monday. 53 degrees on monday, 50 on tuesday. rather windy conditions the entire time. sunday, watch out for sunday. rain would start early and it would become windy during the afternoon. the heaviest wind comes late. we want to keep you ahead of this storm. we want you to down load our nbc 4 app. keep you ahead of the storm. any watches or warnings will come right here including video that we have at nbc 4. >> and a lot could change between now and sunday. >> pretty much so, but stay with us. >> okay, doug, thank you.
11:22pm
11:23pm
teacher: this is west virginia, pennsylvania, delaware.
11:24pm
and this is maryland. every year marylanders spend five hundred and fifty million gaming at casinos in these other states. question seven will build a new casino and bring table games to baltimore... generating hundreds of millions for schools. and that money has to go to education. it's the law. so vote for question seven. so we can stop spending all that money here, and keep maryland money in classrooms like mine.
11:25pm

11:26pm
team despite having several offers. it paid off for the skins and cooley. cooley will be pulled right into a tight end rotation. today was cooley's practice in nearly two months. >> i think it was nice to sit back and look around and watch football games and watch the leegd. i looked at it and thought i can definitely do this. i know i'm as good as a lot of these players. >> that was great to have cool man back, as i call him. he did good tot. i completed one to him in pre-season, but that doesn't count. >> it's great having cooley back. he's the leader on the team and the voice in the locker room. to have him back will definitely help this team gel more. >> how long do you think you'll have him? >> oh, it won't be that longs.
11:27pm
>> he's in serious jeopardy. london missed practice today. he has a hamstring strain. he's also having some issues with his head, which is more worrisome. he saw a neurologist today to figure out why he's having problems with his balance. receiver, p.r.garcon has a ruptured ligament and does not appear to be ready any time soon. not good news there. the hoops, the wizards, taking on the reigning nba-champs. we pick it up in the second quarter. wizards on the break. webster, the free-agent signing, had 23 points tonight. wizards trail by 16 in the game. he had 11. he's looking for some time at that point guard position before john r. gets back. bradly biel, fearless. nails the three. the wizards hold onto beat the
11:28pm
defending nba champs 101-94. the only bad news, it's still pre-season. >> game one of the world series tonight, it is currently going on in the ninth inning. the giants lead the tigers 8-1. what a game for the panda. hitting hellie pad now, the all-star ballot won't feature any centers. kind of a reflection of how things changed. take a look at brooklyn in 2015. that is if the nhl is playing by then. in forbes magazine, the latest nfl player popularity poll. rg3, by the way, the seventh rg3,[ minto ] you know, venth those ads saying mitt romney
11:29pm
11:30pm
would ban all abortions and contraception seemed a bit extreme. so i looked into it. turns out, romney doesn't oppose contraception at all. in fact, he thinks abortion should be an option in cases of rape, incest, or to save a mother's life. this issue's important to me, but i'm more concerned about the debt our children will be left with. i voted for president obama last time, but we just can't afford four more years. [ romney ] i'm mitt romney and i approve this message.
11:31pm
11:32pm
